Nexus Prime Debut Delayed for Steve Jobs: New Rumor says Oct. 27 Launch

Google's Nexus Prime will not debut on Oct. 11, with the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event cancelled by the companies due to the passing of Steve Jobs.

Some more patience is needed till we get to taste the first bite of the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

Google and Samsung were expected to release the new Android flagship, Nexus Prime, at CTIA Fall.

"Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced," Samsung said in a statement.

While the companies initially did not specify the reasons behind the postponement, many linked the delay of Nexus Prime launch to the death of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs, the genius visionary who shaped the media world.

A Samsung spokesman later confirmed that the supposition was right - the death of Steve Jobs was the cause of the delay, according to All Things D and CNET.

Now a new rumor for the for the launch event has surfaced. Nexus Prime's release is allegedly rescheduled to Oct. 27, and will be held in London, according to Nexus 404 and The Next Web.

"Steve Jobs introduced numerous revolutionary changes to the information technology industry and was a great entrepreneur. His innovative spirit and remarkable accomplishments will forever be remembered by people around the world," said Samsung CEO Choi Gee-sung in a statement Thursday.

"Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course," Samsung said in an email announcement on Friday.

It is somewhat comforting that Samsung is giving the world enough time to mourn for the loss of Jobs, a genius visionary who changed the world, before continuing on the relentless competition in the smartphone market.

However, while the launch is delayed, the buzz around the next iPhone contender is very much alive, and the expectation is mounting.

A teaser video was released by Samsung this week, revealing a curved screen on the upcoming Nexus Prime smartphone.

"Something BIG is coming," reads the tagline as the screen shows a curved profile of a slender device.
